Person-centred approach is a type of therapy and counseling that emphasises the unique experiences, needs, and values of the individual seeking support. It is also known as person-centred therapy or client-centered therapy.

Strengths Based Approach

Strengths Based

Strengths based approach is a philosophy and methodology that focuses on identifying and leveraging an individual's strengths rather than focusing solely on their weaknesses and deficits. this approach is based on the belief that everyone has unique talents, skills and abilities that can be harnessed to promote personal growth, development and success

Neurodiversity Affirming

Neurodiversity affirming

Neurodiversity affirming is an approach to understanding and accepting the natural variations in human neurological functioning, which includes autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other neurodivergence. The neurodiversity affirming approach acknowledges that these conditions are not disorders or deficits, but rather represent variations in brain development and functioning that are a natural part of human diversity.  Neurodiversity affirming views neurodivergent individuals as having unique strengths, abilities, and perspectives that contribute to society in important ways. This approach recognises the importance of accommodating and respecting the diverse needs and preferences of neurodivergent individuals, rather than trying to cure or normalise them.  The neurodiversity affirming approach promotes the idea that different ways of thinking and processing information should be valued and celebrated, rather than stigmatised or pathologised. It encourages the development of supportive environments that enable neurodivergent individuals to fully participate and contribute to society. In practical terms, neurodiversity affirming can involve accommodations such as flexible work schedules, sensory-friendly environments, and alternative communication methods. It also involves promoting education and awareness about neurodiversity and challenging stereotypes and biases towards neurodivergent individuals.

Trauma Informed

Trauma Informed

Trauma informed is an approach that recognises and responds to the impact of trauma on a person's psychological, emotional, and physical wellbeing. We understand that trauma can have lasting effects on a person's behaviour and relationships. We recognise that trauma can affect a person's ability to trust others, regulate emotions and feel safe in their environment.

LGBTQIA affirming

LGBTQIA+ Affirming

Affirming LGBTQIA+ means supporting and accepting individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, asexual, and other related identifies. Affirming LGBTQIA+ means recognising the inherent value and dignity of all individuals, their sexual orientation, gender identify, or expression. this includes respecting their right providing equal opportunities and ensuring their safety and well being.

Positive Behaviour Support

Neurodiversity Affirming Positive Behaviour Support

Neurodiversity affirming positive behaviour support (NAPBS) is an approach that recognises and celebrates the diversity of human neurology. It acknowledges that people have different neurological profiles, including neurotypical people and those with neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia and others. NAPBS aims to support people with neurodiverse traits by focusing on their strengths, promoting self-determination, questioning the deficits, and providing a supportive and inclusive environment.

PBS is an approach that can be used to support NDIS participants with distress behaviours.
